Band of Hotties: Where are they now? Part III

Scroll down to the end to see the real men of Easy Company

“They were brave men. They were complex men. And, thanks to Spanks’s crack casting agents, they were also hot men. (Well, except David Schwimmer.)”

– Television Without Pity

Back in 2001, mere days before the tragic events at the World Trade Centre, a mammoth 10-part miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg (a.k.a Spanks) premiered on HBO. With The Pacific set to premiere this weekend, the ladies of Singlarity thought it would be a good time to catch up with some of the cast of Band of Brothers. Some have gone on to star in feature films, television shows and other miniseries, some have popped up in odd places, while others have been to one too many exorcisms. WTF, Rick? So this is part III in the series in which we catch up with your beloved band of hotties.

Part I | Part II

Hell is a lousy script and no craft service

Scott Grimes (Sgt. Donald Malarkey)

Dr. Douchebag

You could say that the role of Donald Malarkey was the high point of Scott Grime’s career. Since then, he’s played nothing but douchebags and dweebs. Case in point, he followed up Band of Brothers with several seasons playing the annoying Dr. Archie Morris on ER. Scott also released an album during this point that Nibby said sounded like “a castrated version of Air Supply”. Currently, Scott can be heard as the voice of the puberty-challenged Steve on American Dad (which is actually a really funny show whenever I remember to watch it). We won’t even mention the role of the “red-headed stranger” in DreamKeeper. The fewer people who have seen that the better. Things are looking up though for Scott, as he will be coming to a movie theater near you as Will Scarlett in Robin Hood opposite Russell Crowe.

Shane Taylor (Cpl. Eugene “Doc” Roe)

Shane as the aloof Doc Roe

Shane really hasn’t worked much since the miniseries and we’re always so thrilled when we hear he has a new project. He recently appeared in the update of the Sci-fi thriller Day of the Triffids and is set to appear in Devil’s Playground, a horror written by fellow BoB alumn Bart Raspoli.

Kirk Acevedo (SSgt. Joseph Toye)

I miss Charlie 😦

Before Band of Brothers, many of us were familiar with Kirk (and his naked behind) from his days on the HBO prison drama Oz. After the miniseries, Kirk did the rounds on network TV dramas from Cold Case to 24, including key roles on NBC’s short-lived series Law & Order: Trial by Jury and The Black Donnellys. Kirk was last seen on FOX’s sci-fi series Fringe as Agent Charlie Francis.

Matthew Settle (Capt. Ronald Spiers)

Settle with his "Gossip" kids

Since Band of Brothers, Matthew has had a pretty varied career with guest-starring and recurring roles in TV dramas, like ER, CSI: Miami, The Practice and Brothers and Sisters, to minor roles in feature films, like Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood and The Express. Matthew currently plays the father of the two most annoying teenage characters on television in the CW hit series Gossip Girl.

Rick Warden (Lt. Harry Welsh)

At attention

After the miniseries, Rick oscillated between brief stints or guest-appearances on British television series and minor roles in feature-length films. He has a propensity for playing very angry men, evidenced by his roles in Shackleton,  HBO’s Rome and BBC’s Wire in the Blood. He chooses his projects based on the script, the director and the co-stars and not necessarily on the size of his part, which would probably explain why someone with his talent hasn’t risen to fame. He has worked with the likes of Paul Schrader, Viggo Mortenson, Stellan Skarsgard, Kenneth Branagh, Daniel Craig, Lindsay Duncan, James Purefoy (former BotM) and Ciaran Hinds. Rick recently appeared on BBC’s Holby City.
